Chatiw App Is Now Chatw — Free Chat Room in Your Browser, Plus an Android App
Chatiw App is now Chatw, at chatw.org: a free chat room for adults that runs in your browser. No email, no sign-up. On Android you can also install the Chatw app.
Android only, about 1 MB. It is not on Google Play, so your phone will ask you to allow installing apps from your browser. With the app you can share GIFs from any website straight into the chat.
What Chatw is
Chatw is a free, adults-only chat site at chatw.org. It has four rooms: the main adult room, a safe-for-work room, a Suggestions room and a Voice room. You pick a display name and a gender tag, and you start talking. There is no profile to fill in, no feed to scroll, and no email to confirm.
Your name and your gender tag sit next to every message you send. People in the room can see who is talking before they answer. That is the whole idea: the easy, anonymous feel of an old chat room, without guessing who is on the other side.
No download needed
Chatw runs in the browser you already have. It works in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, and Samsung Internet, on a phone, a tablet, or a computer. Open chatw.org, confirm you are 18 or older, pick a name, and you are in.
You do not have to install anything. Pictures, GIFs, voice notes, and voice calls all work inside the page.
The Android app
On Android you can install the Chatw app with the download button above. It opens chatw.org full screen, like any other app.
The app adds one thing the browser cannot do: long-press a GIF on any website, tap Share image, and pick Chatw. The GIF lands in your message box, still moving.
To install it, open the downloaded file. Your phone asks you to allow installing apps from your browser. Allow it once, then tap Install. If Google Play Protect warns about an unknown app, choose Install anyway.
Add it to your home screen
If you want an icon like a normal app, add Chatw to your home screen. It then opens full screen, without the browser bar.
On iPhone or iPad: open chatw.org in Safari, tap the Share button, then tap Add to Home Screen.
On Android: open chatw.org in Chrome, tap the three-dot menu, then tap Install app or Add to Home screen.
On a computer: in Chrome or Edge, click the install icon at the right end of the address bar.
The icon opens the same site. Your name and your private chats stay the same, because they belong to the browser on that device.
What you can do in the app
Talk in the public room with everyone who is online. Click any name to send a private message. Start a group chat with a few people. Save people as friends so you can find them again.
Send pictures, GIFs, a voice note, or a short camera clip. Start a voice call in a private chat or a group. In the main room, go live with your voice or your camera so the whole room can hear or see you.
People with the Female or Trans woman tag can also take an optional voice check. They read a short random phrase out loud, and they get a badge that shows they did it live.
No account, unless you want one
You do not need an account to chat or to send private messages. The site never asks for an email address or a phone number.
If you want the same name on another phone or computer, you can make an optional account with a username and a password. That is all it stores.
What it costs
Chatw is free. There are no ads on the site right now. When ads come, the ad spaces are clearly marked, and there will be no pop-ups. Some optional extras, like a custom name color, can be bought. You never need them to chat.
One person builds and runs the site. Your information is not sold, and it is not collected in the first place.
