What's new
2026-11-02: A real voice room, and more room for chat
- Voice is now its own room, next to NSFW, SFW and Suggestions. See who is in it, join with one tap, and type in its own chat.
- If you go to another room, your voice stays on. Mute and Leave stay on screen.
- Pinned messages, the question of the hour and other people's games moved out of the chat. On a computer they are in a column on the right. On a phone, tap the list button above the chat.
2026-11-02: Chatiw App is now Chatw
- The site has a new name and a new address: Chatw, at chatw.org. It is the same site, with the same people and the same rooms.
- chatiw.app now takes you to chatw.org. You keep your name, friends and private chats. Theme and text size settings do not come along, so set them again once.
- If you added the site to your home screen or installed the Android app, install it again from chatw.org so it opens without a browser bar.
2026-10-31: Faster home page
- The home page and the guide pages show their words at once, with no grey loading boxes first.
- The home page downloads about a quarter of what it did. The chat's code loads only when you open the chat.
- The screenshots on the home page download at the size your screen shows them, often a tenth of the old size. Tap one to see it full size.
2026-10-31: A voice room anyone can join
- There is now a voice room at the top of every chat room. Tap Join voice and talk with everyone in it, live. The line shows who is in.
- Tap the microphone to mute yourself, and Leave when you are done. Up to 12 people can be in at once.
- Like calls, it opens after you send your first chat message.
2026-10-31: Bigger groups, and delete or merge your groups
- A group can now hold up to 300 people.
- If you made a group, open it and tap the people button to manage it. Delete group removes it, with its messages, for everyone.
- Made more than one group? In the same place, pick another of your groups and tap Merge. Its people and messages move into this one, and the other group is gone.
2026-10-30: Guides in 15 languages, and questions that fold open
- The main guides now come in Arabic, Dutch, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Urdu. Each guide has links to the other languages at the top. The chat itself is still in English.
- Questions on the homepage and the guides now show just the question. Tap one to read the answer. The homepage's What you can do and How it is different sections fold the same way.
2026-10-29: More room for chat, and search by several genders
- Other people's games now take one line at the top of the room. Tap Show to see open games, the game being played and the champion, and Hide to fold them away again. Your own game still shows in full.
- When you find people, you can now pick more than one gender at once, for example Female and Trans woman. Pick none to see everyone.
2026-10-27: Truth or dare, dice and a question every hour
- Truth or dare: open someone's profile and tap Truth or dare. Only they see it. If they accept, it goes in the room and they have 30 minutes to reply to it. A dare can ask for a photo or video as proof.
- Do dares for 3 different people and you get the name colour picker free for 30 days. Your profile shows how many you have done.
- Don't want requests? Tick the box under a request, or turn off Truth or dare requests in your profile settings under alerts.
- Type /roll (or /roll 20, /roll 2d6), /flip or /8ball and a question in the room. The site makes the result, so nobody can fake it. /help lists them.
- A question of the hour now sits at the top of the room, a new one every hour, for when nobody knows what to say. Tap × to hide it until the next one.
2026-10-27: Groups have their own button
- Groups now have a button next to the rooms at the top of the chat. It opens your groups, with public groups you can join right beside them.
- Messages keeps your private chats and friends.
2026-10-27: Open games and Last Card for up to 6
- Looking for someone to play? Tap + in the message box, then Play a game, and pick a game. It shows at the top of the room with a Join button, and the first person to join plays you.
- Last Card now seats 2 to 6 players. Open a table, invite people from their profile or let anyone join, then tap Start.
- In Last Card a queen now turns the direction of play round, and a jack makes the next player miss a turn. With two players, both let you play again.
- If you give up or run out of time in a group game, the others play on without you.
2026-10-27: Games beside the chat, a champion, and the tour stays away
- Games now sit in a strip above the messages instead of covering them, so you can play or watch and keep chatting. Tap Hide to fold the board to one line.
- The winner of each game the room watches becomes the champion. The strip shows their wins in a row, and anyone can tap Challenge to take them on.
- After a game, the two players get a Rematch button.
- Names show who is who: White and Black in chess, Dark and Light in checkers, and the players' names in Word Grid and Last Card. The player whose turn it is is underlined.
- Skipping the feature tour is now saved to you, so it does not come back after a restart or a new login.
2026-10-27: Translate when you want, quiet groups go away, games right away
- Messages are no longer translated by themselves. A message that looks like another language shows a Translate button under it. Tap it to translate that message, and tap Show original to go back.
- Pick the language the button translates into, or Off to hide it, in your profile under Settings.
- A group chat with no messages for 5 days is now deleted.
- You can challenge someone to a game right after you join, without sending a chat message first.
2026-10-27: Voice notes on iPhones
- On iPhones, voice notes now load fully before they play. Before, some played for a second, played with no sound, or showed an error. If a note still cannot play, you see why and a Try again button.
2026-10-27: Play games with people in the chat
- Challenge someone to Chess, Checkers, Word Grid or Last Card. Open their profile and tap Play a game. They have a minute to say yes.
- Word Grid is a crossword word game on an 11 by 11 board. Last Card is a card game with a normal deck: match the suit or number, 8s are wild, 2s make the next player pick up two, and jacks give you another turn.
- Each turn has a time limit. If time runs out, you lose the game.
- Your wins and losses for each game show on your profile.
- When nobody is live on camera, the main room shows a game in progress. Tap Watch to follow it live and talk about it in the chat.
2026-10-27: Supporters stay at the top of the people list
- Supporters now stay at the top of the people list even when they step away for a moment, for example when their phone is in the background.
2026-10-27: Pick the language messages are translated into
- You can now choose which language messages are translated into, instead of always your browser's language. Open your profile, then Settings, and pick a language under Translate messages into.
- Pick Off to see every message as it was written.
2026-10-26: Join and log in without scrolling on phones
- On phones the join form now sits right under the title, not at the very bottom of the homepage.
- A Log in link at the top of the homepage opens the login form straight away.
2026-10-26: A simpler people list
- The people list now shows everyone who has been on in the last hour, all looking the same. Open someone's profile to see if they are online right now.
2026-10-26: Video calls in one tap, and calls that keep ringing
- Private and group chats have a camera button next to the call button. It starts a video call straight away.
- The person you call can answer with Video or Voice. In a video call both cameras show as soon as you pick up.
- An incoming call now keeps ringing and vibrating until you answer, and the tab title flashes so you notice it in another tab.
2026-10-26: Cam to cam in private calls
- During a call in a private or group chat, tap the camera button to show your camera.
- When someone turns their camera on, you are asked first. It stays hidden until you tap Show camera, and you can hide it again at any time.
- Calls go straight between you and the other person. The site never sees or records them.
- Short messages in other languages, like 'Qualcuno che gooning?', are now translated more often.
2026-10-26: The translator now handles 49 languages
- Added Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Croatian, Slovenian, Lithuanian, Latvian, Catalan, Afrikaans, Malay, Bulgarian, Macedonian, Persian, Urdu, Marathi, Hebrew, Greek, Thai, Georgian, Armenian, Sinhala, Tamil, Malayalam, Punjabi, Bengali and Amharic.
- English slang is no longer mistaken for another language, so plain English messages are not translated by mistake.
2026-10-26: Messages in other languages are translated for you
- When someone writes in another language, you now see their message in your own language, with a Show original link under it. It works in the rooms and in private and group chats.
- It uses your browser's language and handles 19 languages, including English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Turkish, Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. Very short messages stay as written.
- To turn it off, open your profile, then Settings, and set Translate messages into my language to Off.
2026-10-26: A tidier Suggestions room
- The feature list in the Suggestions room now starts folded into one slim bar that shows the top idea, so the chat has room again. Tap Show to see the whole list. Finished ideas sit together at the bottom.
2026-10-26: See when someone is typing in private chats
- In a private chat, you now see when the other person is typing a reply. It shows only once they have written to you, so strangers cannot use it to get your attention.
2026-10-25: Fewer errors on a bad connection
- When the connection to the chat drops for a moment, profiles, chats and the page itself now try again by themselves, so you see fewer errors.
2026-10-24: Name watermark switch and a Log out button
- Pictures you send in private chats show the other person's name across them, so a leaked screenshot shows who leaked it. You can now turn this off for the pictures you send: open your profile, then Settings, and set Their name on pictures I send in private to Off. Saving those pictures stays blocked.
- Your profile now has a Log out button at the bottom of every tab.
- If your browser translates the page (Edge or Chrome on Android), the chat room no longer stops with Section failed to load.
2026-10-24: A simpler chat box and profile
- The chat box now shows only GIF, emoji and voice note. Tap + for the rest, each with its name: photo or video, live photo, camera clip, go live and poll.
- Your profile has fewer tabs: Profile, Photos, People and Settings. Friends and blocked people are under People. Alerts, display and your account are under Settings.
2026-10-24: Voice check is for women's tags
- The voice check is now only for the Female and Trans woman tags, because those are the tags people fake. Other tags no longer see it in their profile.
2026-10-24: Invite friends to a group
- Public groups now have an Invite button at the top of the group chat. It gives you a link to send in any app. Your friend opens it, picks a name, and joins the group.
2026-10-24: Your own background colour
- Pick the background colour of the site: blue, purple, green, pink, grey or the default. It works in dark and light mode, and only you see it. Open your profile, then Settings.
2026-10-22: Feature tour
- A short tour now shows you the main features one time: the rooms, the chat buttons such as live photo, voice notes and going live, the people filters, group chats, friends, and the message filters in your profile. It moves by itself, and you can skip it.
- To watch the tour again, open your profile, then Settings.
2026-10-22: Better people search
- Set your exact age in your profile, or pick an age range if you prefer.
- Find people with an age slider: drag both ends to choose the youngest and oldest age.
- Filter people by country or by part of the world, such as Europe, Asia or South America. Pick as many as you like and mix them.
- On phones, Find groups and group chats no longer open the keyboard by themselves, so it does not cover the list.
- On phones, hiding the main room with the eye button now shows the list of people in its place, with all the filters open and bigger buttons at the top of the list.
2026-10-22: Message filters
- Choose who can send you private messages: only some genders, only people on your friends list, no messages with words you pick, or only messages with a minimum number of words. Set them in your profile settings under Private messages. Filters only check messages from people you have not replied to yet.
- When you open a chat with someone who has filters on, you see their filters before you write. Their list of blocked words stays private.
- The person who made a group can now delete any message in it: open the message menu and tap delete.
2026-10-21: One address
- www.chatiw.app now takes you to chatiw.app. You keep your name, friends and private chats. Theme and text size settings do not come along, so set them again once.
- A chatiw.app link shared on Reddit, Discord, X or in a message now shows a large preview picture, not a small icon.
- Two new guides: Verified chat explains the voice check and the REAL PICS, HUMAN and Taken live badges. Chat with no bots explains how the site keeps spam bots out.
- The homepage now shows what the chat looks like on a computer and on a phone. Tap a picture to see it full size.
- Perks can now be bought with crypto, such as Bitcoin, Ethereum or USDT. A perk switches on once the payment is confirmed.
- Add a voice intro to your profile: up to 30 seconds, recorded with your microphone in profile settings. Files cannot be uploaded, so people know it is your real voice. It plays on your profile card.
- See who reacted: point at a reaction under a message, or hold your finger on it on a phone, to see the names. A normal tap still adds or removes yours.
- Your friends list now shows a friend's new name after they make an account or change their name. Before, it kept the old name until you reloaded the page.
- Type @ and a letter to mention anyone in the people list, including people shown in grey who were here earlier today.
- A name typed out in full after @ now shows as a highlighted mention, even if you did not pick it from the list.
- The eye button above the people list hides the grey people, so you see only who is online now.
- A SELLER badge marks people who sell content. Orange means staff have not checked who they are: their profile and your private chat with them warn you to ask for a picture with the Taken live badge before you believe them or pay for anything. Green means staff checked the seller is real.
2026-10-20: Banners stay
- Profile banners no longer disappear an hour after you add them. If your banner went missing, add it again in your profile settings and it will stay.
2026-10-20: Giveaway ends
- A private chat left open while your phone is locked or you are in another tab or window no longer marks new messages as read. They now show as unread until you look.
- The supporter giveaway has ended. Everyone who won keeps their perks until they run out.
- The Bigger uploads perk now allows pictures and videos up to 95MB.
- A picked badge or name colour now goes back to normal when its perk runs out.
2026-10-19: Profile banners
- Your display and alert settings, like covering pictures until tapped, are now saved to you. They come back when you log out and in again, or log in on another phone.
- Voice notes and video clips now play all the way through on every phone. Before, some stopped after a moment.
- How long you have been on the site is hidden from your profile now. Turn on Show how long I have been on the site in your profile to show it.
- Once our staff approve your picture check, you get the REAL PICS badge. Anyone staff verified, by picture, voice or the Human star, is no longer asked to verify each new picture.
- Live cams open in their own tab: press Watch when someone is live, and use the full-screen button to fill your screen.
- A green REAL PICS badge shows people our staff checked send real pictures of themselves. Staff can also mark single pictures in the chat as verified.
- Public groups: make a group public so anyone can find it in Find groups and join. Add a password if you want to choose who gets in. Groups now hold up to 50 people.
- Take a photo with your webcam on a computer. The Taken live badge stays for phone photos only.
- The voice check is simpler: just say the phrase. No more whispering, laughing or humming.
- Add a banner to your profile: a wide picture across the top of your profile card. Set it in your profile settings.
- Country flags now show only in the people list. Chat messages, profiles and people search no longer show them.
- On some phones, dragging the ball into the circle failed every time. It now works on those phones.
2026-10-18: Fewer bot adverts
- Once our staff confirm a bot, its outside-app contact ID (TeleGuard, Telegram, Zangi and others) is removed from every message, whoever sends it.
- New visitors match one emoji and drag a ball into a circle before their first message. It takes a few seconds, you only do it once, and it keeps spam bots out.
2026-10-18: Chatiw for Android
- There is now an Android app. Download it from the Chatiw app page (link at the bottom of every page).
- With the app, long-press a GIF on any website, tap Share image and pick Chatiw. It lands in your message box, still moving.
- A one-of-a-kind 1ST CAM badge for the first girl ever to go live on cam in the room.
2026-10-18: Pasting GIFs from websites
- Copying a GIF from most websites and pasting it into the chat now keeps it moving, even when its web address does not end in .gif.
- If a website refuses to share the moving GIF, you get the still picture plus a short note, rather than nothing.
- Google Images shows small still previews. Open the image first, then copy it, to paste the moving GIF.
- Installed Chatiw on your phone? Long-press a GIF in Chrome, tap Share image and pick Chatiw. Chrome only sends the page, so Chatiw shows the GIFs on that page: tap yours and it is attached, still moving. Sharing from your gallery works too.
- On a phone, copying a GIF turns it into a still picture. To send it moving, long-press the GIF, choose Open image in new tab, copy the address from the address bar and paste it in the chat. Downloading it and using the photo button works too.
2026-10-18: A cleaner chat
- Names are tidier. A small country flag sits before each name, and only one tag shows beside it.
- Pick your one tag in your profile settings: the OG badge, your name badge or the supporter star, if you have them.
- Age, orientation and the HUMAN badge now live on profiles. The HUMAN badge means our staff checked the person is real, not a bot. Use the new Human only filter to find them.
- The M or F mark shows only for people who chose their own name color. Otherwise the name color shows it.
2026-10-18: Report bots, delete chats from the list, and the HUMAN badge
- Report a bot. Choose "Bot or fake account" when you report, and tick what gave it away, like a copy-paste message or asking you to add them on another app. Your reports help us find bots faster.
- Delete a private chat straight from your chat list with the bin at the top left of each chat. You can tick "Don't ask me again" to skip the question next time.
- Some people now have a green HUMAN badge. It means our staff checked they are a real person, not a bot. It does not confirm who they are or what they look like: verified photos, live photos and the voice check do that.
2026-10-18: Suggestions room and reactions in private chats
- A new Suggestions room, next to the NSFW and SFW rooms. Talk about features you want on the site.
- In the Suggestions room, a poll asks Yes or No about one feature idea. With 5 or more yes votes, and no more no than yes, the idea joins the feature list at the top of the room.
- Vote ideas on the feature list up or down. The most wanted ideas show first. Ideas that are built get a Done label.
- React to messages with emojis in private chats and group chats, the same way as in the room.
2026-10-18: Delete a private chat, and a new giveaway schedule
- You can delete a private chat. Tap the bin at the top of the chat. Every message, picture and video in it is deleted for both of you.
- The supporter giveaway now draws a winner every 6 hours (00:00, 06:00, 12:00 and 18:00 UTC), when 10 or more people are online.
- Reports are handled better. When you report a picture or video, staff now see the file itself, so they can act on it quickly.
- This page. Every release with new features is listed here.
2026-10-17: Display names, a safe-for-work room, and colored names
- Account holders can change their display name. Your login name stays the same.
- A safe-for-work room sits beside the main room. Switch rooms with the buttons above the chat.
- Names are blue for men and pink for women, unless you picked your own color with the name color perk.
- Group chats show above private messages, so you can always get back to them.
- Your profile shows how often you reply in private chats.
- Type a country name to jump to it in the country list.
- Favorites: save GIFs and videos from the media viewer, and show or hide them on your profile.
- GIFs pasted from Discord stay animated. Animated WebP and PNG uploads stay animated too.
- The chat reconnects at once when the connection drops without warning.
2026-10-16: Launch
- Edit and delete your own messages in the room, private chats and group chats.
- View-once pictures in private chats.
- Profile photo galleries, live profile pictures, and a 'Taken live' badge for photos from the in-chat camera.
- Photo verification, with no face needed.
- Video links play in the chat.
- An optional sexuality tag, and a state or region next to your country.
- A switch to hide the main room, and an option to cover pictures until you tap them.
- Sounds for room messages and replies.
- The supporter giveaway and the OG badge for the first 20 accounts.
